ÁNGEL ORENSANZ PREMIADO EN SUNDANCE

Ángel Orensanz me envía esta nota acerca del premio que acaba de recibir en el Festival de Sundance. Ángel ha realizado distintas intervenciones artísticas sobre la nieve en París, cerca del Louvre, en Nueva York y en Moscú. Básicamente, al margen de realizar otros montajes, ha pintado unos expresionistas rostros en la nieve; más que pintar parece haber trazado unas grandes incisiones en la nieve.

 

 

ANGEL ORENSANZ AWARDED IN SUNDANCE FESTIVAL FOR HIS FILM  “SNOW OF THE WORLD. EVERYTHING DISSOLVES UNDER OUR FEET”

Park City, Utah.  Yesterday, January 25, at the Egyptian Theater of Park City, Angel Orensanz was awarded the prize “New Art Horizons” for his film “The Snows of the World” by the circle of new directors and writers from the Sundance Festival. The event took place in the early hours of January 25.

This short has been photographed and produced in its entirety during the last two weeks of this months  in Paris, Moscow, New York, and the last and longest sequence in he mountains of Park City, the sea of the Festival.    

In a feat of preproduction and postproduction, the Spanish sculptor and his team has extensively work in the esplanade in front of the Musee du Louvre Paris; he worked with a tractor, plowing the snow in front of the Museum of the Soviet Exploration of the Space in Moscow and in a  park in Lower Manhattan, in New York. The last sequences, the longest,  in the Mountains in Park City. Asked for the reason of this intensity of sculpture and film in the snow, Orensanz answered: “I do not see an interpretive model more clarifying of what is going on around us than the snow cape that envelops now large areas of the world. It is evocative of the fragility that envelops so many countries. It is not just an ecological crisis but an economic and structural one. Everything dissolves under our feet”.

The movie was presented very early this morning at the Egyptian Theatre in front of an avid audience.
